Fargo Seeking General Manager

Fargo Smiling Moose is seeking a General Manager: Direct, coordinate, and oversee all restaurant operations and business activities pertaining to the production, pricing, sale, and distribution of Smiling Moose Deli’s foods and services. Establish and implement restaurant policies, procedures, and objectives in coordination with upper-level management. Negotiate contracts with vendors to obtain needed products and services, monitor store inventory, and place orders for required goods. Delegate and supervise the activities of other employees and ensure the effective operation of the deli. Respond to customer queries and complaints and resolve grievances and disputes. Ensure restaurant and employee compliance with food safety and environmental standards, codes, and regulations. Review sales and financial reports to ensure accuracy and profitability and evaluate budgets and expenditures to identify areas for cost reduction and increased efficiency. Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the restaurant including advertising campaigns, events, sales promotions, and discount schemes. Recruit, interview, hire, and train new employees to fill vacancies. Create staff work schedules and assign respective tasks and duties, including promoting employees to supervisory positions when appropriate. Evaluate employee performance and address problems and concerns as needed. Will supervise 1 Kitchen Manager, 1 Assistant Manager, 5 Cashiers and 5 Cooks.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field plus 6 months of experience in the job offered. The position requires skills and knowledge using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). The position involves incidental travel, 1% of work time, not more than several days a few times a year.
